A home
in the clouds

A family-run homestay in Lamahatta, Darjeeling — wake up to pine forest, tea gardens and Kanchenjunga from your room's window.

Our story

Built into the hillside, run like a home

Kepchaki Stay sits in Rana Village, a short climb above Lamahatta's pine forests and eco park, with the Teesta valley falling away below and the snows of Kanchenjunga on a clear morning.

We're a local family running a small number of rooms the way we'd host a guest at home — a driver who knows every viewpoint worth the detour, a porch built for doing absolutely nothing for a while, and a clean, well-equipped kitchen at the heart of the house, turning out fresh local and Indian food served in our wood-panelled dining room where guests eat together.

On a clear morning, watch the first light hit the Kanchenjunga range straight from your room's window. No big-hotel checklist here — just quiet mornings, mountain air, and people who are glad you came.

★★★★★

"सुबह खिड़की से कंचनजंगा का नज़ारा और साथ में गरम चाय — इससे बेहतर छुट्टी की शुरुआत नहीं हो सकती। खाना बिल्कुल घर जैसा था, और पूरे परिवार ने ऐसे ख़याल रखा जैसे हम उनके रिश्तेदार हों। अगली बार पूरे परिवार के साथ आएँगे।"

"Pickup from NJP was right on time, and the food never stopped coming — the dal-bhat and homemade pickle were the highlight. Felt like visiting relatives, not checking into a hotel."

"Quiet, clean and green — exactly the break we needed from city life. The cab tour of Tinchuley and Takdah was worth every minute. Already planning a trip back for the Eco Park in bloom."
